About Us


The Washington Young Farmers Coalition works to support Washington’s beginning farmers in creating a vital statewide agrarian revival by offering unique social and educational events, enabling access to critical resources, and fostering a strong community of allies. We partner with other compatible organizations in order to promote access to farmland, organize financial support for beginning growers, and leverage the voice of young farmers to affect change at the policy level. We aim to foster and develop the burgeoning community of experienced young growers in Washington state; provide material, organizational and educational support; and facilitate action toward an abundant, just and food-secure future.


The Position


WAYFC is seeking a Part Time Coordinator to work under the supervision of the WAYFC board to build capacity for and strengthen the Coalition.  Specific responsibilities include the management of the website, listserv, and other communications; coordination of programs and events such as the annual mixer; attending events hosted by related agencies and organizations; and assist Board Treasurer with management of chapter income and expenses.




General Support

  • Manage WAYFC listserv, respond to e-mail inquiries
  • Update and manage website
  • Manage and post facebook/social media outlets; 2-3x/wk
  • Attend events at partner organizations to represent WAYFC
  • Manage fundraising efforts and donations
  • Track relevant expenses in budgeting and record keeping documents
  • Support the board in writing grant applications and grant reporting



  • Work with the WAYFC Organizers to develop content and structure and coordinate execution for annual meeting, annual mixer, and other farm events
  • Communicate and publicize WAYFC events to the farming community through the list-serv, website, social media, and press releases
  • Solicit donations for special events



  • Schedule, manage and participate in regular WAYFC Board meetings
  • Schedule, manage and participate in one annual in-person board meeting


Desired Qualifications:


Previous involvement in the farming community and/or community events

Familiarity with networks of coalitions; how these entities function and what they can achieve

Event coordination, management and production skills

Experience with websites, newsletters and social media

Interest in justice work in agriculture, including racial and gender equity

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Flexibility, maturity and enthusiasm


Required Qualifications:


Computer skills (Word, Excel, Google platform, email)

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the state


Compensation and Start Date:

Starting $15/hr, DOE

5-10 hrs/week, depending on time of year
