Farm Resilience & COVID-19 Podcasts

Back in March a small group of farmers representing WAYFC, Sno-Valley Tilth, and other organizations worked to organize “Farm Resilience & COVID-19 in WA State” a live webinar to connect as a community and voice the needs and concerns of producers across the state. In one day of promotion and massive peer-to-peer outreach we had over 500 registrants. We used the experiences of farmers captured in the survey to shape conversations on issues that are affecting the farming community: food access and mental health. We intend for you to listen to these in the field because we’re all busy and we’re all grappling with how to show up for this moment. In our podcast series we reflect on feeding people and working on the land in the midst of global pandemic and the movement for Black Lives. As part of a follow up project funded by the Washington State Department of Agriculture Regional Markets Program, WAYFC has continued to investigate some of the most pressing concerns farming communities brought to the forefront of the conversation starting back in March.

Thank you to the Washington State Department of Agriculture Regional Markets Program for working with us to put resources behind farmer leadership in the four farmer-to-farmer episodes with Ari, Miles and Amanda, Vero, and Nyema. We’d also like to thank PCC Farmland Trust for supporting our work, and for Osborne Seeds who graciously allowed their contributions to our cancelled annual mixer to be put toward this project.
